Planning plays a significant role in ensuring the optimized allocation of resources and in ensuring resources reach the right objectives at the right time. Given the huge scale of GoK and the planning activities, it is imperative to make all the planning activities process-oriented and Data-driven. This process-oriented and Data-driven culture will enhance the effectiveness of Planning as a function, of all GoK departments, and impact the citizens of Karnataka.
Looking at the massive data needs of the Planning Department, Karnataka Data Lake, a Policy Support System is proposed to create a dedicated Big Data Lake for the planning department to automatically integrate and consume this data for diagnosis, prediction, forecast, and recommendations. Karnataka Data Lake’s noteworthy features include building a Big Data lake by integrating different data sources and analyzing, structuring, and querying them for building Bayesian models that identify downstream and lateral impacts upon interventions by using causal dependency graphs to facilitate valuable and actionable insights in real-world scenarios.
